Most paragraphs of text are set left-aligned - i.e. with a ragged right-hand edge. This is the easiest layout to work with, and is friendlier and less formal than justified text.
Justified text
Unless care is taken when using justified text, the type can become hard to read. 'Rivers' of white space can appear in paragraphs, and it can often look cramped. Justification is good for newspapers, and other applications where it is important to fit large amounts of text into a small space.
